ROLE SUMMARY

The Pharmacy stock Controller is responsible for maintaining stock levels and stock control in the pharmacy

store room and dispensary including theatre.

KEY WORK OUTPUT AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

 Follow up on back orders and ordering of stock

 Unpack and check stock received

 Measure and evaluate stock activity levels for stock and re-ordering purposes

 Maintain stock at agreed value targets (stock days)

 Check expiry dates regularly and ensure the timeous return to suppliers and/or write off of stock

 Eliminate slow moving and redundant stock by means of constant communication with doctors, nursing

staff, pharmacy and other stock controllers in the group

 Conduct cyclical counts for inventory purposes

 Prepare for stock take, data capturing and finalisation of stock take

 Ensure correct CSA requirements are met in regard to replenishments, external ICT’s (to other hospitals),

internal ICT’s (30’s items), stock transfers, goods receiving, upliftment of stock and consumable transfer

 Coordinate all queries regarding the daily replenishment

 Assist stock assistants with any stock queries

 Control of consumable cost of wards and theatres

 Implement and control systems for stock control

 Investigate the negative stock list and ensure that all link codes are up to date

 Purchase stock according to needs and within preferred structures

 Generate replenishment report to wards and ensure replenishments are done and sent to wards/theatres

 Capture stock transfers, consumable transfers and ICT’s

 Oversee central store rooms and assist with any queries

 Maintain rosters for stock assistant in pharmacy and central stores

 Ensure tasks are completed within the timeframes

 Manage associated administrative tasks

 Assist with any adhoc duties assigned by the Pharmacy Manager

SKILLS PROFILE

EDUCATION

 Grade 12 or equivalent NQF 4 certificate

WORK EXPERIENCE

 Previous experience in stock management

 Intermediate computer literacy

KNOWLEDGE

 Knowledge and experience of a pharmaceutical stock control system

NON MANAGERIAL/ SPECIALIST SKILLS
