MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

 

To develop and maintain all the standards development processes and procedures of the Standards Division, and to align these processes and procedures with best practice and relevant legislation

 

STRATEGIC OUTPUTS

 

Productivity

 

 

Develop documents to direct the standards development processes (e.g., high-level norms, guide for standards development, general guidance documents, etc.)

 

Develop, amend, review and ensure implementation of standards development processes, forms and procedures in alignment with best practice, relevant legislation, regional and international agreements and standards approval committee decisions

 

Design frameworks (including processes and procedures) for the recognition of standards development organisations

 

Develop, amend and maintain training materials as it relates to standards development

 

Review, revise and provide recommendations regarding standards development policies to ensure relevance

 

Customer/ Stakeholder

 

 

Ensure that all stakeholders are kept up to date with progress or changes to the standards development processes and procedures

 

Follow-up and handle all complaints and queries from stakeholders relating to the standards development processes and procedures

 

Provide guidance and support to recognised standards development organisations (national / international) within scope of control

 

Growth

 

 

Identify opportunities for process improvement and ensure implementation

 

Develop, implement and maintain a quality management system within the standards division

 

Competent and empowered employees

 

 

Champion the compliance process within the division for all approved standards development processes, policies and procedures

 

Provide continuous training, guidance and mentoring to standards professionals and interested stakeholders related to standards writing

 

Implement effective and smart measures to manage the perfomance of staff in alignment to SABS policies and procedures

 

 

Candidate Requirements

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

 

6 year's relevant work experience within the field of standards development or a related field

A relevant bachelor`s degree or national diploma in engineering, IT, science or a related discipline

Relevant IT proficiency (MS Office, Internet, etc.)

 

Proven track record of developing procedures, processes and workflows within a corporate environment

 

Excellent understanding of the standards development environment
